Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about scrotal scans, prostate assessments, and prep guidelines.

Do I need a doctor's referral for men's health scans? +

No, you do not need a referral. Many men book their screening scans directly online for peace of mind, and we will ensure you receive a copy of your diagnostic report to share with your GP if needed.

How is a prostate ultrasound scan performed? +

Most of the time, for routine screening and checking bladder emptying, the prostate assessment is performed transabdominally (from the front of the lower abdomen) with a full bladder. Occasionally, depending on symptoms, your specialist may recommend a transrectal scan for closer evaluation.

What preparation is required before a scrotal or prostate ultrasound? +

Testicular and scrotal scans require no preparation. For a transabdominal prostate scan, you should arrive with a comfortably full bladder by drinking about 500ml of water 30–45 minutes before your appointment.

When will I receive my scan results? +

The radiologist will discuss the findings with you during your appointment. A detailed, formal written report is emailed to you and your referring doctor on the same day.
